Business Process Automation(BPA) – Stock levels.

This week I helped ons of my clients to level their stock balance.
They work with a sales administration in Exact Globe and have an external location from where they ship their goods.
This party want to keep things small and therefore only keeps their stock balance in an Excel sheet that ones a month is send to the sales office to proces the sheet manually and adjust their stock levels.

To automate this proces we created a shared folder in which the external location can place their sheet on a daily basis. The task that I build searches for the file and stores it in a database table, when there is a file. I then added some checks to make sure all the used items and warehouses in the sheet are known in the ERP-system and then check the stock levels. When there is a difference in stock level, the task will generate and proces stock-counts in Exact Globe and finalizes the proces by sending an informative e-mail to the financial officer.
You can imagine the time they save and the impact of the “more real-time stock level” will have.
